Comic strip Pearls Before Swine was launched in January 2002 and its author is Stephan Pastis. The main characters are Pig and Rat, with Zebra, Goat, crocodiles and many other supporting characters. This comics is very popular and is currently running in hundreds of newspapers worldwide. In 2003 and 2006 it won the Award for Best Newspaper Comic Strip of the year, and in 2002 and 2008 it was one of the three nominees.
